Mission and Values
Shriners believe in brotherhood, fun, family and philanthropy.
Founded in 1872, the organization now known as Shriners International was established as a Masonic fraternity that showcased fun and fellowship for its members. The tradition of fun and fellowship thrives today; as interests have changed through the years, Shriners' approach to fun has evolved as new members bring in fresh perspectives and creative ideas.
The possibilities for having fun as a Shriner are endless. Our local Shrine Centers worldwide have thousands of activity-based clubs, units and events that provide diverse ways for members to connect. If a club for a particular activity doesn’t exist, members are empowered to create one. Shrine Centers also provide coaching, financial support and resources to help members develop their ideas and build their own experiences. In fact, Project 3-5-7 is a program that consists of 4 components with the goal to increase awareness and appreciation for the wide range of clubs and units and highlighting the unique contributions and perspectives of local communities within Shriners International. The objective is to inspire other temples to explore the establishment of their own clubs and units.
While other organizations offer memberships centered around one hobby or interest, Shriners is different. You can be involved in as much or as little as you choose. You can join a hiking club, a motorcycle unit or a professional development club while also attending golf outings, wine tastings and family-friendly events – all within one organization.
Below is list of some of our clubs and units. Members are encouraged to join as many as they would like, or even start one of their own.
